We just started a new church here in Milwaukee. We started out on Sunday nights. I have had either relationship or been involved with churches that also started with Sunday night services. I and they have found that the demographic that comes to a Sunday night service is very different than a sunday morning. I always say we meet on Sunday night so you can work off your hangover from Saturday night before coming to church.

Both of the churches that i knew that started with Sunday nights later added a Sunday morning service. They would consistently have new people at the later service. But "church people" tended to go to the morning service. So i would conclude that if you add a Sunday night service you will probably reach a whole group of people that might not otherwise walk through your door. Also if people want to go to church at 10:00 on a Sunday morning they have plenty of options if that doesn't work with their work schedule or life than here we are. Also two days to possibly sleep in!

We started Sunday nights at 5PM and usually have a Matthew type party in our home until we are overflowing because of these reasons you stated. This is another reason to add is that the generation we are reaching loves to party and go out on Friday and Saturday nights ans sleep in on Sunday Mornings but still want to be connected to a church family or I like to call tribe. We also meet in a non-churchy location our home for now which we have a relaxed environment and welcoming for visitors who wan to just come and see. We are testing this for the next few months. Peoples live are being changed and deeply touched with the Gospel of Grace. In Pinellas County one of the least churched areas in Florida at only 15%, therefore we are targeting the unchurched who do not care because they do not have a cultural comparative, we have only gotten complaints from the Churched about the time. Some MISSIONAL Christ followers who have a regular church are also interested in using our Sunday evening church as a missionfield to serve and then still remain at their local Church on Sunday AM. Therefore we get a lot of people who want to serve and take part in the vision. Thanks.
