Hats off to Steve Jobs

By now you’ve heard of the passing of Apple’s Steve Job.

He was touched with the fire of God.

I thank God for his life. He certainly changed mine and I’m certain yours as well. Given the way he passed, this amazing yeoman, who dropped out of college after his first year, had many months and years to ponder the truth that life is short, that God is real and eternity goes on forever.

Instead of discussing whether he was a Believer or not, I hope you honor his memory by ordering a new iPhone 5 tomorrow (when they become available), then use it to the glory of God. Why? Because all creativity emanates from God.

Just got back from several days of conferencing in southern California. It has been a while since I last was in a highly charged conference atmosphere. There is nothing quite like getting on the scene when people are firing on all eight cylinders with their right brain. It is very stimulating to say the least.

I came back charged up with new book writing ideas as well as a plethora of ideas for PDFs. Bottom line on this trip comes down to two things:
It was well spent / well invested time, AND I need to go on trips like this regularly. Creativity requires others who are moving in the same vein.

Friends of mine are serving as roving “Street Pastors” in various cities in the U.K., Europe and North America. This short news clip captures the espirit de corp of these folks. Their attitudes are contagious as you will catch on this video.

Be sure to tune in tonight on Shapevine where I’ll be sharing a summary of my new book coming out with Regal Publishing.

One of the main thoughts of the book is how you can move from a “3 to an 8,” as a leader and as a church. The simple idea is that many leaders have been laboring under the burden of trying to become something or someone that they are not called, not made to be. As a former 4th grade teacher I have discovered there are no “10s” but Jesus, and there is rarely a “9″ (someone with a Billy Graham level of personality/gifiting)

But all of us, when we are in sync with the distinct calling and gifting of God, can flow powerfully as an “8.” However, when we try to mimic someone else and are not living spontaneously in the unique thing that God has called us to be, we will live with massive frustration. We will not experience the joy of the spontaneous life of the Holy Spirit living in side of us. And most tragically, we will never even get close to accomplishing what Jesus has called us to live out, which are amazing unique things that only we and the group we lead can live out at this point in history.
