Kindness Quotient – (K.Q.) – Your Greatest Asset

You are probably not just familiar with the concept of IQ – you might even know what your score comes to as well. An IQ is supposed to measure innate intelligence though sometimes it is culturally tilted. More recently Emotional Quotient measurements have been suggested to capture the level of your innate ability to deal with life and others in general.

There’s yet another sort of intelligence that we need to put onto the discussion table – it’s the Kindness Quotient that is the most needed today and for the rest of our lives. Kindness quotient is arguably the most important measurement we can have if we hope to be world changers.

We have various “Q” (quotient) measurements no matter the area of life. EQs are highly capable of growth. Research shows we can even raise our IQ measurements with certain exercises. No matter your life of the first two measures, the level of KQ in your today, you can grow significantly. You can make decisions to raise your levels of intelligence with others.

Exponential Kindness

A simple idea: take 1% of your waking hours today focused on showing kindness to others. For a general number, you spend that 1% on a total of around three people. What does 1% come out to if you divide out your entire waking hours – it’s a little less than ten minutes? That’s it. You begin to act as an agent of kindness – do it in a focused way spread out over three connections, and your life will begin to change in ways that IQ and EQ can never touch. Don’t forget – KQ will lead to success that changes lives and will, in turn, open doors to of opportunity to you. Who doesn’t want to be around kind people!

Go out of your day for just 1% of the time. Define normal as ten minutes a day focused on showing kindness to others. Don’t wait for a great opportunity to show kindness. The great opportunities come along as we go with the little open doors that present themselves each day.

To consistently grow in your KQ make it a regular, daily focus. If you fall off the wagon for a few days now and then like me, just get back up on the kindness bicycle and start peddling the kindness of God in practical ways. Your KQ measure goes up in the consistent, day by day stepping into people’s lives to change their day. Do this and not only will your Kindness Quotient grow, maybe your other Qs will kick up as well!
